Do you want to become a PATROL CAPTAIN or VICE-CAPTAIN?

SLSQ will be conducting a Silver Medallion Patrol Captain Course for members wishing to become a future patrol captain or vice patrol captain. The course aims to equip you with the skills and knowledge required to confidently manage a beach and a patrol as a Surf Life Saving Patrol Captain.

This is a 2-day course and requires the completion of online learning, as well as the completion of an on the job training checklist (where you will be required to have a go at leading a patrol under the supervision of a qualified patrol captain) prior to attending the course. The face to face component of the course includes further learning and desktop scenarios as well as a practical scenario assessment.

This course was only introduced last year, and to date, we have heard some very positive feedback!

The first course of the season will be at Kawana SLSC on the 7th and 8th October (8am – 4pm); however, please submit your expression of interest below to be considered for future courses throughout the season.

The course pre-requisites are – 

  1. Minimum two years patrolling experience.
  2. Minimum 17 years of age on the date of final assessment.
  3. Hold a Bronze Medallion award AND the Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue).
  4. Be proficient in at least ONE patrolling award, such as:

– Bronze Medallion (if the Bronze is not proficient the candidate must hold a proficient observers award as well as one of the below) –

– First Aid

– Radio Operator

-Advanced Resuscitation Techniques
