Dicky Beach Surf Life Saving Club

Established in 1950, Dicky Beach Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) is a non-profit community service organisation, situated on Queensland’s beautiful Sunshine Coast. The Club provides an essential emergency rescue service to beach-goers, creating a safe environment both on and around Dicky Beach. Throughout its history, the club has proudly held intact its vision of “Zero Preventable Deaths” within our patrol environs.

In addition to emergency rescue and medical services, our volunteer members provide the following community services:

– Preventative programs to ensure beach visitors avoid danger (surveillance, safe swimming area, shark alarm, identification of rips, stinger sweep, and first aid);
– Surf safety information through community education programs;
– Youth development programs; and
– Healthy lifestyle programs.

Steeped in the rich tradition of the Australian Surf Life Saving movement the Dicky Beach Surf Life Saving Club has seen many young men and women pass through the ranks and go on to become world class champions and active, committed and generous members of our community.

2020 - 2023 Strategic Plan

The Club Council has endorsed a new 2020 - 2023 Strategic Plan for immediate implementation at the recent 2020 AGM. A PDF copy of the one-page plan is available under the 'Forms and Documents' section. The timing of this strategic plan coincides with unprecedented times due to the Covid 19 pandemic that will impact on every part of our club and its operations. The core elements of this strategic plan support our vision through; good Governance - Member Development - Club Development – and building the right club Culture. There are some key elements to this plan that are worthwhile highlighting: • Deliver our charitable purpose as a priority, to support our expanding community • Ensure ongoing solvency is maintained and sustainable practices are developed to steer the club through uncertain and difficult economic conditions. • Increase our focus on providing an environment that safeguards all children and young people that are part of our club, and • In the 40th year of women in lifesaving, we will deliver greater gender equity and opportunity for women in our club. The face of this strategic plan is Lauren Kettleton who joined as an Under 8 nipper, has gone on to become a great lifesaver, a long term Patrol Captain, a member of the IRB team, and professionally is a practicing lawyer.
